welcome to the waikato
The Waikato is a great place to live, and a great place to visit, but it's also a great place to do business. Waikato District Council actively encourages investment in the district, economic development is a key focus for the council.
We want new businesses, new people, new ideas and new industry and we want to do it together. WDC is working hard with businesses and investors to do what they can.
The Waikato has a lot of significant advantages to offer. We are linked to an excellent roading network to three key NZ cities, the first (Auckland), fourth (Hamilton) and fifth (Tauranga)largest cities in New Zealand, also known as the golden triangle. We sit in the middle of this trio, offering savings in time/costs and travel.
We have a long history of food production, innovation and exporting domestically and internationally.
The Waikato Expressway means businesses can access markets faster. Less than an hour's drive to Auckland, the largest city in NZ, which offers a lot of advantages in terms of market, workforce and access to specialised facilities.
"at waikato district council, you have direct access to decision makers and for large projects, we can offer a project team approach to help navigate through council processes."
- Mayor Allan Sanson, Waikato District Council.
