Te Kauwhata residents will be able to enjoy their new skate park soon with work underway.
The $215,000 facility in Saleyard Rd will feature a pool bowl area and an improved skate space for the community, Waikato District Council general manager of service delivery Tim Harty said.
"The new skate park will offer a fun and challenging arena for all age groups and wheeled play activities," he said.
While it all depends on weather it is expected the skate park will be completed by March 30.
The project comes under the council's capital works programme in the Long Term Plan and $215,460 has been allocated towards the build with a further $18,500 for the design.
RICH Landscapes, which designed the Meremere skate park, was contracted to design and construct it this project.
Harty said it's a similar concept to Meremere's facility.
The Raglan-based company has been involved in the construction and design of skate parks throughout New Zealand, as well as projects in Australia and China.
The work will include upgrading what is already at the current skate park.
Harty said the community had a input into the assignment.
"The community has already been heavily involved in this project, with feedback coming from the Te Kauwhata Community Committee and the youth of the town, especially with the design concepts," he said.
