It's been a busy first year for the Ngaruawahia youth action group which is set to host a health expo on Friday.
The youth group, Embrace the Future, will bring various organisations together to connect with Ngaruawahia High School students.
"It's basically an event that brings all these organisations together to educate youth on leading a healthier life," member Wirihana Eriepa said.
The likes of Waikato District Health Board, Youth INtact, Wintec and Nga Miro will hold information stalls.
Wirihana said he believed there was a lack of awareness on how to be healthy - physically and mentally.
And if all goes well, the group hoped to host the expo again and open it to the community.
This project follows on from a video about suicide awareness which did well on social media attracting more than 4000 views.
And next they will work on creating a new logo.
All in all, it's been a successful start, Wirihana said.
"I think we are doing pretty good considering we are all studying or going to school."
The group, consisting of five full time members, and others who help out where they can, is hoping to recruit new people to help spread the work load.
By being part of the team would mean an opportunity to empower youth in the town as well as giving them a voice, Wirihana said.
To enquire about joining the group, Wirihana said those aged between 12 and 24 who were either living, studying or working in the town could make contact through the Embrace the Future Facebook page.
