The Ministry of Business, Indicators, Innovation and Employment Regional Tourism Estimates indicates that visitor expenditure in the Waikato district has grown from $75 million in 2009 to $139 million in 2019.


The majority of visitor expenditure in the Waikato district is from domestic visitors with $106 million followed by $33M million attributed to international visitors.
